Frequently Asked Questions
It may be surprising to know that there are many things that can contribute to muscle and nerve imbalances. The most common causes include trauma, overstretch, and overuse-style injuries. Additional contributors include poor diet, medications, surgery, recreational drugs, and more.
We do not accept insurance. However, upon request, we can produce a super bill with all listed codes and items necessary for you to submit a claim to your insurance company.
To reactivate a muscle or nerve, our doctors and therapists use their hands to apply pressure to specific reflex points throughout the body—similar to reflexology. When the therapy is done, the doctor will reassess the injured muscle or neurological indication to ensure it has been properly treated.
The treatment process is individual. However, the more muscles you get treated, the more stable the joint becomes.
Muscles should not need to be treated more than once. At each appointment, the doctor or therapist will assess the previously treated muscles to ensure they’re still functioning. If any previously treated muscles have shut back down, it is often caused by new trauma, compensation, or a deeper injury.
Pain is often the last thing to come and the first thing to go. It’s an indication of large amounts of inhibition. We recommend an appointment every 3–6 months to continue building stability by reducing the total number of inhibited muscles in the body. The fewer inhibitions you have, the greater your quality of life will be.
Pain is the body’s natural alarm system—it tells us which areas need attention and care. In our experience, pain goes away when about 50% of the muscles across a joint are functioning properly. We recommend activating as many muscles as possible across the joint to maximize stability, which increases range of motion and strength, enhances performance, and leaves you pain-free, strong, and stable.
Standard chiropractic focuses on joint alignment. Our treatment recognizes the importance of alignment but emphasizes the need for muscles to work effectively in order to hold the joint in alignment long-term. If you feel the need to go back to a chiropractor often, it’s a clear sign that your muscles aren’t keeping the joint aligned.

Some of the muscles we treat may have been dysfunctional for years. When we reactivate them, it’s like they’re “waking up.” You might feel soreness, tightness, or even new awareness in those areas. This is a good sign—it means your body is beginning to use those muscles again.
Most new patients come in once a week. We typically treat up to six muscles per visit, so weekly appointments help you make progress without overwhelming your system. That said, you’re always welcome to set the pace that fits your schedule.
We start by focusing on your main area of pain or concern—that’s our top priority. Once those muscles are working again and you’re feeling better, we can look at other areas that may also be inhibited. You’ll feel the most stable and resilient when all your muscles are reactivated.
Yes. The more muscles we can reactivate in a shorter period of time, the faster your body stabilizes and the faster you get out of pain.
We treat muscles in pairs. You can have 2, 4, or 6 muscles treated. We typically recommend reactivating 6 muscles per visit. This allows your body to adjust without overload and keeps the healing process moving forward quickly.
It’s not about how many times you come into the office—it’s about how many muscles are functioning properly across the joint. On average, we recommend activating about 24 muscles before determining whether this treatment is effective for your body. The treatment process is individual. However, the more muscles you get treated, the more stable the joint becomes.
We’ve found this treatment to be very effective for most individuals. By the end of the first visit, we can usually tell if this approach will help your injury. However, every body is different. To give the process enough time to make an impact, we recommend getting 24 muscles treated.
In our office, we emphasize muscle function across the joint. If the muscles aren’t working, the adjustment won’t hold. We charge $30 per muscle, and the chiropractic adjustment is included with each visit.
